Joshua Henkin is the author of the novel SWIMMING ACROSS THE HUDSON (Putnam, 1997), which was named a Los Angeles Times notable book of the year. His new novel, MATRIMONY, will be published by Pantheon in October 2007. His short stories have been published in Glimmer Train, Ploughshares, The Southern Review, The Yale Review, Triquarterly, DoubleTake, The North American Review, The New England Review, Boulevard, and elsewhere.

His fiction has been performed at Symphony Space and broadcast on NPR's "Selected Shorts"; published in Spanish translation in Habra Una Vez, an anthology of young North American Writers; anthologized in 110 Stories: New York Writes After September 11; and cited for distinction in Best American Short Stories. He is the recipient of the James Fellowship for the Novel, the Hopwood Award, the PEN Syndicated Fiction Award, and a grant from the Michigan Council of the Arts. His essays and reviews have appeared in The New York Times Book Review, The Los Angeles Times Book Review, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Boston Globe, The Nation, Mother Jones, The Christian Science Monitor, and elsewhere. He lives in Brooklyn, New York, and teaches in the creative writing programs at Sarah Lawrence College and Brooklyn College, and at the Unterberg Poetry Center of the 92nd Street Y.
